Unable to start more Spot Instances after X number

Platform Notice: Data Center Only - This article only applies to Atlassian products on the Data Center platform.

Note that this KB was created for the Data Center version of the product. Problem

Spot Instance couldn't be started anymore after X number of Spot Instances started.

The following appears in the atlassian-bamboo.log

1 2017-06-16 09:34:44,066 WARN [elastic-pool-4-thread-2] [AwsSpotInstanceLauncher] Unable to place a spot instance request, proceeding with regular instance order

Cause

Spot Instances have different limit in each region and AWS account as stated in AWS Spot Request Limits.

Resolution

Contact AWS Support to increase the limit for your region and account.
