Status transition through automation rule fails

Automation rule to transition the issue status fails with the error "Destination status could not be resolved. If using a smart-value, ensure this resolves to a numeric status ID or untranslated name for issues (with current status)"




This issue will happen if there is no transition from the current issue status to the destination issue status configured on the automation rule.


  • Go to project settings >> Workflow.

  • Make sure transition is available from the issue's current status to the destination status configured on the automation rule.

  • If not, create the required transition or modify the rule action to transition the issue to the correct status.
