Unable to Edit Field in Jira Due to Screen Configuration

Summary

  • A field in Jira doesn't appear on any screens in the workflow

  • Users can't edit the field using in-line editing

  • Permissions are configured correctly on the project

Solution

Check if the field is on project screens

If the field is not associated with any screens in the project, it will not be editable.

If all of the screens in the project don't include this field, you can add the field to them.

  1. Navigate to your project and select Project settings

  2. (Data Center) Select Issues > Screens

  3. (Cloud) Select Work Items > Screens

  4. Expand one of the screen schemes and select a screen to edit

  5. Add the field to the screen

  6. Repeat steps three and four for any additional fields or screens as needed
