The XML export function from the issue view screen leads to the message "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it"

Summary

When trying to export a Jira issue in XML format from the issue view screen, by using the option Export > XML, no XML file is generated, and the user is redirected to a new page showing the message below (in addition to the content of the issue in XML format underneath):

Environment

Any Jira Server/DataCenter version from 7.0.0.

Cause

The message is actually not an error but just some information telling the user that there is not any CSS or XSL style on the XML. This message can be safely ignored, and to be able to export the Jira issue in an XML file, the steps from the Solution section should be followed.

Solution

To create the XML file from the Jira issue view, follow the steps below:

  • Click on Export

  • Right-click on the XML button

  • Select Save link as, as shown in the screenshot below:
