Request types filter unavailable on a Jira Service Management board

Platform Notice: Cloud Only - This article only applies to Atlassian products on the cloud platform.

Summary

The request type filter is missing on the service project board.

While configuring the Board on a project that has one of the filter options called Request Types. In some cases, the Request type filter is not available at all and in some cases, it does not have all the Request types available to select. There is no manual way to add the request types.

Solution

The Request type filter on the Board is dynamically generated based on the issues that are present on the board. To have the Request type option available:

  • In Columns tab, Ensure that all the Status types are mapped to the Columns. If they are not mapped, the issues for those request types will not be shown and the request type itself will be missing from the Filter.

  • In General tab, make sure that the last option "Choose how long completed issues stay on your board." is set correctly. If it is set to one day, It will not show the issues closed before one day and any request types for those issues will not be available in the request type filter.

  • All the issues on the Board have a Request type; if an issue does not have a request type, the filter will not be visible.
