Reactivate an unmanaged Atlassian Cloud account

Summary

When an unmanaged user deletes their own account, it gets deactivated immediately. It stays in the deactivated state for 14 days before getting deleted permanently. During this time, the account cannot be invited to an Atlassian Cloud site or app, and attempting to invite them will result in an error message like the following:

"We're unable to invite deactivated accounts."

Solution

The user can reactivate their account

During the 14 day deactivation period (before full deletion), the account can be reactivated by the user themselves. They must follow the below steps:

  1. Navigate to id.atlassian.com

  2. Login using the email ID for the account which is deactivated

  3. Enter their password

  4. In the next prompt, select Cancel Deletion

Once the account deletion has been canceled, their account will be reactivated, and can then be invited to Cloud sites and apps successfully.
