Summary

  • Jira allows you to pre-populate the Component/s field of new issues created directly from an agile board so that they remain on the board.

Solution

  • To achieve this goal, the Component must be added to the Board Filter so that it is automatically set to keep the issue in the Board when it is created from the Backlog View.

  1. Navigate to the Board > Configure > General and edit the Filter Query, specifying the Component

  2. Create a new issue from the Board Backlog View.

  3. The issue will have the Component Defined in the Board Filter automatically set.

⚠️ A new Component created using the same name in another project could cause this functionality to fail, as detailed in the Bug report:

In this case, the message "The issue KEY-X has been created but is not currently visible" will be displayed after being created from the Backlog View.
