New comments show in "All" tab but not "Comments" tab in Jira Cloud

Summary

Newly added comments appear in the All section of a Jira work item. The same comment isn't visible under the Comments section.

Solution

Check for threaded comment replies

Jira supports Replying to existing comments, which creates a nested thread under the original comment. When a reply comment is added, it doesn't appear at the top of the Comments section, and instead appears underneath the comment it was replying to. This can make it hard to find new comments in the Comments section, but they aren't missing entirely.

Because of this feature, the All tab will continue to display all updates to a work item in chronological order, including new comments. In order to view comments in their context, please use the Comments section and check for replies underneath "parent" comments.
