Symptoms

When you try to edit a JIRA Gadget (e.g. assigned to me gadget) from the dashboard, the edit page shows up with all the settings and fields in a different language (e.g japanese, when actually both the system default and the user preference is in english).

Cause

The cause for this is still being investigated, and is currently unknown.

Resolution

Simply Disable and re-enable this Gadget. To do this, take the following steps:

  • From the JIRA Administration Menu, select Add-ons. Click on the Manage Add-ons page. (keyboard shortcut: press gg on your keyboard, and then start typing Manage Add-ons in the prompt).

  • Expand the System Add-ons, and find the Gadgets Plugin. Click on the Gadgets Plugin to expand it.

  • Click on the Plugin Modules to expand it, and search for the particular gadget (e.g 'Assigned to me' or assigned-to-me-gadget)

  • Hover over the gadget module and click the 'Disable' button, and then hover again to enable it by clicking the 'Enable' button.
