How to run the bundled Data Center apps without an app license
Platform Notice: Data Center Only - This article only applies to Atlassian products on the Data Center platform.
Note that this KB was created for the Data Center version of the product. Data Center KBs for non-Data-Center-specific features may also work for Server versions of the product, however they have not been tested. Support for Server* products ended on February 15th 2024. If you are running a Server product, you can visit the Atlassian Server end of support announcement to review your migration options.

Summary
From February 2021, Atlassian bundled the following apps with Data Center for free:
Advanced Roadmaps for Jira Software (AR4J, formerly Jira Portfolio)
Insight Asset Management for Jira Service Management
Insight Discovery for Jira Service Management
If you have a Jira Data Center installation, you need to be on a specific version of Jira or a specific version of the app to not require a license to run the app.
Environment

Jira Service Management Data Center
Advanced Roadmaps for Jira Software
(Insight) Assets for Jira Service Management
(Insight) Assets Discovery for Jira Service Management
Solution
Advanced Roadmaps is bundled with Jira Software 8.15 and later.
If you can't upgrade Jira Software to 8.15, you may upgrade Advanced Roadmaps to 3.29.5 or later.
(Insight) Assets and (Insight) Assets Discovery are bundled with Jira Service Management 4.15 and later.
If you cannot upgrade Jira Service Management to 4.15, you may upgrade:
(Insight) Assets to 8.7.1 or later.
(Insight) Assets Discovery to 2.29.0 or later.
If you still see a license error after upgrading the app, you may also need to upgrade Universal Plugin Manager to version 4.3.0 or later.
If you the app license is still show as in use even after upgrading the app, you may be running into JPOSERVER-2954 - Unable to update app license after switching to Jira Data Center. Update to Jira Software 8.18 or review the workaround documented in the bug.
