How to Change the Sender's Name of the Service Management Notifications

Note that this KB was created for the Data Center version of the product. Summary

The sender of the Service Management notifications for a given project seems to be the same as the project's name. However, changing the project name doesn't reflect on the emails. In some use cases, we'd like to have a more generic name of the email sender.

Environment

Jira Service Management Server/Data Center on any version from 4.0.0.

Solution

The sender's name is actually the name of the Customer Portal which can be customized via the setting Project settings > Portal settings > Name.

For example:

  • If the Name setting of the Portal Settings page is set to SDBASIC in a givenService Management project:

  • The name SDBASIC will be used as the Sender of the Customer Notification emails sent from this project:
