Cant start JIRA after upgrade to JIRA 7

Summary

Problem

JIRA was unable to be start after performing upgrade to the latest JIRA 7

However, upgrade was successful. Check in catalina log.

The following appears in the jiraXXXstderr.YYYY-MM-DD.log

Diagnosis

Environment

  • Just upgraded to JIRA 7

  • server.xml was copy over from previous instance

Cause

For JIRA 7, the server.xml has been introduced to a number of new listeners which is not available in JIRA 6.X or earlier

Solution

Resolution

Update the following section and replace the old one in the server.xml
