Summary

Documentation on the Product Room in Jira Align indicates that one of the prerequisites is a Product Objective; however, documentation on creating objectives only discusses Portfolio, Solution, Program, & Team Objectives.

This article discusses how to create a Product Objective

Environment

Jira Align Cloud

Solution

A Product Objective is created by setting up a Priority Vision (sometimes called a Vision Statement) within the Product Vision as follows:

  1. Go to Product Management > Products and create one or more products (or identify suitable existing products)

  2. Go to Product Management > Vision or Portfolio > Vision

  3. Click Create New in the Product Vision section

  4. In the details of the new Product Vision, as well as a Title, Description, and Version, make sure that

    1. The products created/identified in Step 1 are added.

    2. A Priority Vision is created for each desired Product Objective (by filling in the Priority Title and description and choosing a color)
