Calculation and display of PTS value in Jira Align "Feature Backlog" kanban view.

Summary

Upon displaying Features in the Kanban View, the Feature card displays 3 different values:

• level of Efforts(LOE)

• Weighted Shortest Job First(WSJF)

• Points(PTS)

However, even if the Points field in the feature has the value it does not display in the Feature card

Steps to Replicate

1. Login to Jira Align.

2. Select a Program from the top Program Dropdown.

3. Select Backlog from the left panel, and select "Feature Backlog" for the Viewing Dropdown.

4. Select Kanban → State View

5. Card Size → Normal Size

Solution

The PTS field is related to the Points estimate done in the Forecast tab of the Feature. Hence we need to add the Points estimate for the Teams and PI in the Forecast tab.

Also, having a Program Increment(PI) is a prerequisite to getting the Forecast value. It is important to select the PI from the left panel to display the PTS value in the Feature card.
