In Rovo Studio, apps are custom solutions that extend the features and functions of Atlassian apps. The app you build can add new pages, panels, and macros. They can also automate workflows, and integrate external systems, allowing teams to customize Jira, Confluence, and other Atlassian apps to match how they actually work.

Build an app with Studio

Studio's app builder provides a visual interface for creating applications. You drag and drop components, configure their behavior, and connect them to your Atlassian data, all without writing code.

This empowers business users, not just developers, to build solutions that address their team's unique requirements. Apps can be as simple as a feedback form or as complex as a multi-step approval workflow with custom dashboards. The flexibility of the platform scales with your needs.

When you describe what you want to build in Studio, Rovo will:

  • Suggest if an app is the right solution as compared to an agent or an automation.

  • Design the app and generate a feature spec that spells out what it will do, where it lives in Jira, Confluence or other spaces, and how it behaves.

  • Build an app behind the scenes, choosing the right Forge modules (for example, a Jira global page or Confluence macro), generating UI with Forge UI Kit, wiring backend functions, storage, and permissions.

  • Give you the option to publish and monitor it from Studio so you can deploy to a test or production site and track basic usage and health.

From your perspective, you’re “building an app in Studio”. Under the hood, you’re designing and implementing a real Forge app that runs on Atlassian’s cloud platform, with all the benefits of Forge’s hosting, security, and product integration.

For experienced developers, you have the option to create an app using Forge.

Types of apps you can build

You can build Studio apps to enable a wide range of use cases. Examples include:

Custom forms: Collect the right information from users with validation, conditional logic, and integration with Jira or Confluence.

Dashboards: Display data from across your Atlassian apps in custom layouts with charts, tables, and metrics.

Approval workflows: Route requests through multi-step approval processes with notifications and audit trails.

Internal tools: Create specialized interfaces for common tasks like employee onboarding, resource booking, or incident management.

Data entry interfaces: Build streamlined screens for updating Jira work items, Confluence content, or custom data

How apps integrate

Apps connect seamlessly with your Atlassian ecosystem. They can update data in Jira, Confluence, and other Atlassian apps. Forms can create Jira work items, dashboards can pull data from multiple spaces and projects, and workflows can update Confluence content.

Apps in Studio also work with automation rules, allowing you to trigger flows when users submit forms or complete actions.

共有と権限

You control who can access your apps in Studio. Share apps with specific people, teams, or your entire organization. Each app respects Atlassian's permission model, so users only see and interact with data they're authorized to access. Admins can review and manage all apps created within the organization.
