Setting up ChatGPT (OpenAI)
This guide explains how to connect OpenAI’s ChatGPT to Atlassian Rovo MCP server, enabling AI-assisted workflows across Atlassian products. ChatGPT can help you summarize content, answer questions about project work, and generate insights from connected data sources.
The ChatGPT connector can currently only be added through developer mode in ChatGPT. You will need to enable developer mode in ChatGPT to complete the setup.

Step 1: Enable developer mode in ChatGPT
Open ChatGPT in your browser.
Go to Settings → Developer mode.
Toggle Enable developer mode on.
Once enabled, you will be able to create and manage custom connectors, including the Atlassian Rovo MCP server.
Developer mode in ChatGPT allows you to integrate experimental or third-party connectors. Use this feature with care, especially in production environments.
Step 2: Add the Atlassian Rovo MCP server connector in ChatGPT
In ChatGPT, go to the Explore GPTs section.
Select Create a new connector (available when developer mode is enabled).
以下の詳細を入力してください。
Connector name:
Atlassian Rovo MCPBase URL:
https://mcp.atlassian.com/v1/sseAuthentication type: OAuth
Follow the prompts to authorize ChatGPT to access your Atlassian Rovo MCP server.
Step 3: Enable and configure the connector in ChatGPT
After completing the OAuth authorization, you will configure the connector directly within ChatGPT.
Select Developer mode from the Plus.
Select Atlassian Rovo MCP from your available connectors.
Select which Atlassian products or data sources you want ChatGPT to access (for example, Confluence, Jira, Compass).
Save your configuration.
Step 4: Test the integration
In ChatGPT, open a new chat.
Ask ChatGPT something like:
Summarize the latest Confluence page about our Q4 planning. If configured correctly, ChatGPT will respond using data pulled from your Atlassian workspace.
Where you can use it in ChatGPT
Atlassian Rovo MCP server is supported across ChatGPT experiences:
General chat mode: Use Rovo MCP tools directly in a standard chat after selecting the connector.
Deep research mode: Invoke Rovo MCP tools while running deep research to pull context from Jira, Confluence, or Compass.
Agent mode: Allow agents to call Rovo MCP tools as part of multi-step tasks.
You enable the connector from within the chat interface. If your organization uses policies that limit connectors or tool usage, you may need admin approval.

Removing the connector
To disconnect ChatGPT:
In ChatGPT, go to Settings → Integrations → Atlassian Rovo MCP.
Select Remove connector.
Confirm removal.
This revokes ChatGPT’s access to your Atlassian data sources.
Next steps: Once this integration is generally available, you will be able to connect ChatGPT to Rovo MCP directly without requiring developer mode.
