Configuring the Mail Server to Use Gmail
Platform Notice: Data Center Only - This article only applies to Atlassian products on the Data Center platform.
Note that this KB was created for the Data Center version of the product. Data Center KBs for non-Data-Center-specific features may also work for Server versions of the product, however they have not been tested. Support for Server* products ended on February 15th 2024. If you are running a Server product, you can visit the Atlassian Server end of support announcement to review your migration options.
*Except Fisheye and Crucible
Usage
You can refer to this KB when you want to configure a Gmail Account for Mail Notifications in Fisheye/Crucible.
Configuring
Go to the Administration >> Global Settings >> Server >> Mail Server >> Edit config
Configure according to your needs:
From address: your_email@gmail.com SMTP host name: smtp.gmail.com Port: 587 Use SSL/TLS: True Username:your_email@gmail.com Password: ******** |

2-step verification
Notice that if the Gmail user has 2-step verification enabled, he/she will need to generate a password for an application (in this case Fisheye/Crucible) and use this application password - not the account password. Please refer to the guide below for more information:
