Cannot Edit in Word for a Microsoft Word 2007 Document Using Firefox

Symptoms
When using Firefox, the "Edit Document" link does not respond when using Mirosoft Word 2007. There is no error in the log. Internet Explorer and other browser do not experience the problem.
Cause
This is caused by the configuration of the Firefox add-on which doesn't associate a desktop application (editor) with the relevant file type (.docx).
Resolution
This configuration tells the Office Connector which application to launch when it encounters a link to an editable file. The configuration is slightly different for each Operating System. See Install the Firefox Add-On for the Office Connector for more information.
