Re-link Jira work to Bitbucket Cloud after migration from Data Center

Summary

After migrating from Bitbucket Data Center to Bitbucket Cloud with Bitbucket Cloud Migration Assistant, it's crucial to update Jira work items to reference the Bitbucket Cloud instance instead of the previous location. This article provides a solution for establishing this connection.

Solution

Integrations with external systems, such as Jira, are not automatically migrated to Bitbucket Cloud. Therefore, you need to reconfigure these integrations after completing the migration. Follow the steps below to link Bitbucket Cloud with Jira Cloud.

Steps:

  1. Disconnect existing Bitbucket connection: After migration, sever the existing Bitbucket Data Center connection to Jira Cloud, as seen in the following screenshot:

    • The Jira Cloud integration page in Bitbucket administration allows you to delete the Jira integration
  2. Establish new connection: Connect the Bitbucket Cloud workspace with Jira Cloud to establish a new connection.

  3. Update Jira work item links: Once connected, the old Jira work item links should automatically point to Bitbucket Cloud.
